Lego Syndrome...
Sep. 28th, 2007 | 02:04 pm
I have this thought that wanders into my head from time to time.
I call it 'Lego Syndrome':
When I was a kid I used to play with lego. While sitting around playing I would try to find a given part. I would reach a point where there would be this one part that I needed and I know I have lots of them, but I could never find it. No matter how hard I looked, I could never find it. Eventually I would give up trying to look for it and look for a different part. Invariably as soon as I stopped looking for the original part I would find it.
Its the same situation where you know a word but can't think of it, the more you try and think of it the harder it is to find. As soon as you stop thinking about it, it pops into your head.
There is a term for this, and in some random bit of luck I found it once. Of course I cannot remember this term now though.
So if anyone one knows what I am talking about. please tell me. Its driving me crazy.

So it looks like maybe our politicians might start working together for once.
I'm not a huge fan of politics because everything about politicians make me sick, to me they are no more than glorified salesmen, which are in my opinion, one of the worst kinds of people.
But this sort of idea makes me happy. Two groups with differing views working together for the betterment of the whole. Novel concept. Reminds me of some of the things I have read about Robarts, who was the Ontario premier in the 60's. He used to invite all of the heads of the other parties, and other provinces to sessions where they could discuss how they could work together for the betterment of Ontario, as well as Canada.
Which brings me to another headline: The response to the news story above:
OTTAWA (CP) - The Conservatives say that Stephane Dion's deal with the Green Party proves he is not a leader.
Both the Conservatives and NDP use this information as a sign of weakness in Dion, and as a sign that May is willing to "work with the enemy".
I call Bullshit, and I'm quite disgusted at Jack Layton's position on this, it just makes him appear to be scared that maybe they'll lose some of their seats to the Green party... Finally.

A friend from early on in my life....

Yet another reason I didn't pursue art, yes I know its not rational to become disillusioned with your art because you feel everyone around you is better at it than you are... But the way I see it, is if I gave up that easy I probably never would have succeeded.

Blustery Day
Nov. 28th, 2006 | 11:07 am
Well it appears that BC is less resilient than Toronto.
Remember back in the day when Toronto got all that snow, and we had to call the army in. Well Out here in BC, we got about a quarter that much snow, and everyone starts whining. Half the people in my work didn't show up again today. C'mon, give me a break...
On that note I have some pictures available for viewing.
Watch out they're big.

Just watched When the Levee breaks a Spike Lee Documentary about Hurricane Katrina, a good watch. Pretty disturbing how mismanagement and politics can cause so much pain and suffering..

Aquirliums
Sep. 1st, 2006 | 10:00 am
I just got an aquarium. I've always wanted an aquarium. I gues sI've had one before but I kept lizards in it so it isn't the same thing. This one has fish, and plants.
A really nice person gave it to me. its 20 gallons, and came with all the filters and nets and stand, and tank, and heater etc. It really was a nice gift.
So now it has water and 5 little neon blue tetras, and 6 plants in it.
I love it.
Even Megan likes it (now that I made the filter make less noise), this was done using threats and hitting.. (<-- I like how this is formatted, it makes it ambiguous as to who I was threatening and hitting, which works out well in case the police come).
Pictures may come soon. (As in now)

I want to get a Ghost knife for the tank, but they grow too big for this size tank. So I have to figure out some other kind of cool fish.
That is all.

Leave your name, and...
1. I'll respond with something random about you
2. I'll challenge you to try something
3. I'll pick a colour that I associate with you
4. I'll tell you something I like about you
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of
7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on yours

The Monkey sleeps at dawn....
Apr. 13th, 2006 | 02:57 pm
We need more code phrases in everyday life...
Here are some that you are free to use:
Darkness sleeps beneath the bright shroud of daylight...
When the pheonix dives from above...
Once when I was thirteen...
This tofu is so tasty...
who else thinks that the word so, as used in the above sentence should have two o's, eg. soo.
more in line with the word too...
This elephant is soo big.
This elephant is too big to fit in my house.
"So" as used in: So, you wanna come over and play traders of genoa? doesn't need the extra o, but you are soo stupid, does.
Yeah so it's another Sister's birthday on Monday I think. I really have alot of sisters. Not too many people know my pain. Happy Birthday Rachael for when I forget.
We are going to Seattle this weekend, should be fun, I've nevr been there. I want to buy lots of games. I don't think anyone will want to come game shopping with me. I'm going to try and sneak off, probably saturday afternoon.

Wonder Showzen
Apr. 10th, 2006 | 12:50 pm
I have a new love...
This could be the greatest TV show ever....
I'll repeat the disclaimer at the start of their show:
WONDER SHOWZEN CONTAINS OFFENSIVE, DESPICABLE CONTENT THAT IS TOO CONTROVERSIAL AND TOO AWESOME FOR ACTUAL CHILDREN. THE STARK, UGLY, PROFOUND TRUTHS WONDER SHOWZEN EXPOSES MAY BE SOUL CRUSHING TO THE WEAK OF SPIRIT. IF YOU ALLOW A CHILD TO WATCH THIS SHOW, YOU ARE A BAD PARENT OR GUARDIAN
Here's a review of the DVD of season 1:
"Get ready as the complete first season of Wonder Showzen tackles valuable life lessons like birth, nature, diversity, and history all inside the prison of your mind! Where else can you learn that being the best means killing number one? Or where you should hide when the revolution comes? Not at school, not from the government and certainly not from your parents.
Nowhere but on this 2 DVD set of Wonder Showzen! As American as imperialism, slavery, and hot dogs. Buy this stupidly awesome and lovingly assembled DVD or dreams will die!"
Hop on the hotdog highway....

Its sunny here again, I predict a monstrously hot summer here in BC. Which is alright with me other than all the burning...
Only 6 degrees, but it's been over 15 for the past 3 or 4.
It's my sister's birthday today.. Happy Birthday Jaime, although I doubt you know of this blog or how to get here, but I hope you have a great day anyways..
April is full of Birthday's in my family. Its my dad's birthday on Saturday. I like my dad, I hope he comes up this month.
Then there are about 7 other birthdays this month, who can keep track.
Remind me not to have any April kids.
Had a really long dentist appointment yesterday. Is there no nitrous in this damned province!!! Luckily I was listening to shpongle, telepopmusik, and zero 7. Made for a reasonable appointment.... I still wish there was nitrous.

Fencing...

music: basilisk again.....
No not the kind you put around you pool, the one with swords.
I started last week, and I'm really enjoying it.
Our teacher is 80 years old, and British. He learned fencing when he was 8. Then picked up the french style in the british army.
He went on to teach foil, epee, sabre, and bayonette.
we are learning foil, as it is the only form he teaches now, because he says it is the purest, the most true to actual sword fighting.
He's great.
I even picked up a couple of blades and such (although they are a little different, pistol grips etc).
Now I just need to get a big scar across my cheek and I'm set.
If you haven't seen the movie Sunshine, check it out. interesting.... but very long..
